Terms of service for photography editing
Plain terms for a simple arrangement: you shoot, we edit, the work is yours.
Last updated 22 October 2026
Who these terms are between
These terms are between BackstagePost and the studio that sends us a project. Our service is for photographers, filmmakers and studios acting as a business, not for couples or other consumers.
The service
We edit photographs and video that you send us: culling, colour grading, retouching, film editing, social reels and album design, for the packages and add-ons listed on our packages page at the time you send the project.
Quotes and confirmation
Prices are flat per project in CAD. When you send a brief, we check it and the footage link and confirm the package, add-ons, price and delivery date with you. Work starts only after you agree that confirmation. If the footage turns out to be different from the brief, for example many more cameras or hours than the package covers, we tell you and agree any change before going on.
Payment
Paid projects are charged in CAD by card through a secure payment link once the brief is confirmed, and before editing starts. Card payments go through a card payment provider such as Stripe, and your card details never reach us. If we cannot deliver a project, we refund it in full.
Turnaround
Standard delivery is 7 business days. Rush is 72 hours and costs 50% more. The clock starts when three things are in place: the brief is confirmed, payment has gone through (or the free trial is confirmed), and your footage link works and holds all the files. If we are going to miss a date, we tell you why and when to expect delivery.
Revisions
Each package includes the revision rounds listed for it. A revision changes the edit you received. A new brief, a new style or new footage is a new project. Details are on our revisions and refunds page.
The free trial
One free project per studio: any Gallery package or the Highlight film. It is edited and delivered like a paid project, with the same revisions. Add-ons on a trial project, including Rush, are charged. We may decline a trial that looks like a second trial for the same studio.
Footage access
You send a link to footage in your own storage, such as Dropbox, Google Drive, WeTransfer, pCloud or Box. Keep the link working until the project is delivered. Your raws stay in your storage, and we are not responsible for files lost from it.
Your rights to the footage
You confirm that you own the footage you send or have the right to have it edited, and that you have the permission you need from your couples and anyone else shown in it, including for any music you ask us to use. You are responsible for that permission.
Ownership
The delivered files and the project files belong to you. We claim no ownership or credit, and you may use, sell and publish the work under your own name.
Confidentiality
Your work carries your name, never ours. We never show it without your written permission, never contact your clients, and never mention who edited it. The full promise is on our confidentiality page, and how we handle your clients' images is in our data processing terms.
Cancellations
You can cancel a project before editing starts and we refund what you paid. Once editing has started, tell us as soon as you can and we will agree with you what is fair for the work already done.
Liability
We take care with every project, but our total liability for any project is limited to the amount you paid for that project. We are not liable for lost profits or for losses caused by footage, music or instructions you supplied. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version on this page when you confirm a project applies to that project, and the date at the top shows the latest version.
